We provide fire prevention, preparedness, and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities.
Our organisation encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), and other departments that work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate, and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.
Purpose of the RoleThis role will co-ordinate building approval processes in compliance with legislative requirements. The successful candidate will provide public education and fire prevention advice in regions, inspect building special fire services for compliance, and represent QFES at industry and community forums.
Main Responsibilities- Co-ordinate technical and engineering submissions to ensure proposals are relevant and accurate;
- Evaluate plans and specifications for compliance with referral jurisdiction, regulations, Australian standards, codes, and QFES policy requirements;
- Inspect building special fire services for compliance with development approvals, regulations, Australian standards, and QFES policy requirements;
- Maintain a comprehensive and expert working knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, standards, and policies;
- Represent QFES at industry and community forums to ensure a positive image of the department;
- A current Blue Card;
- A manual medium rigid driver's license as recognised by the Department of Transport and Main Roads;
- Building Fire Safety Level 3 qualifications or current equivalent;
- The current position of Senior Firefighter with Station Officer qualifications or hold a Station Officer position; or be eligible for appointment as a Station Officer i.e. Leading Firefighter;

This will involve conducting inspections, providing advice and guidance to clients, and developing and implementing fire safety strategies.
