As a Student Wellbeing Coordinator, you will be part of the Student Engagement and Wellbeing Team to develop and implement strategies that promote student wellbeing and engagement.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated understanding of common approaches, policies, and research relating to student mental health, wellbeing, and engagement. They will also possess experience in delivering professional therapeutic interventions for students in response to an identified need.

Key responsibilities include working alongside Homegroup Teachers and Year Level Coordinators to gauge the needs of all students, providing feedback and resources for the Homegroup program, and allocating student referrals in an appropriate way. The role also involves undertaking required DET steps to manage and report incidents, initiating and exploring alternate temporary or longer-term education settings for students as needed, and supporting Inclusive Education Coordinators and Year Level Coordinators at student support group meetings.

You will work collaboratively with the SEW team to ensure Individual Education Plans are developed and implemented for students with mental health diagnoses or similar, including Koorie students and students in Out of Home Care. Additionally, you will provide counselling and guidance to students who may be self-referred, Year Level Coordinator referred, or parent referred, and refer cases requiring professional counselling or treatment to an appropriate agency with prior agreement of the student and parent.
