Position Overview

Monash University is on the lookout for an Indigenous Employment Strategy Partner to advance our objectives in Indigenous workforce inclusion.

This essential position entails working closely with senior management, supervisors, and HR Business Partners to create and execute innovative approaches aimed at enhancing the retention, growth, engagement, and career advancement of Indigenous personnel. In this capacity, you will offer expert guidance to assist HR professionals, Indigenous staff, and leadership in navigating Indigenous employment issues.

Eligibility Notice: Only Indigenous Australians may apply for this role as it is exempt under the Special Measure Provision, Section of the Equal Opportunity Act 2011 (Vic).

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Formulate and implement initiatives from the Reconciliation Action Plan to elevate employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.
  • Spearhead strategic change initiatives and assessments to bolster professional development, career progression, and retention of Indigenous staff, including the coordination of the Indigenous Staff Network.
  • Provide specialized advice and support to management regarding Indigenous employment issues to ensure effective workforce practices.
  • Enhance the capabilities of the Monash workforce to execute Indigenous employment initiatives and strategies.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Experience in engaging with and supporting Indigenous talent, including collaboration with Indigenous communities.
  • Proven HR expertise with a history of implementing talent management strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Strong generalist HR skills with experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Excellent consulting and relationship management abilities, with a talent for building strategic partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders.
