Urban Planning Expert

We are seeking a skilled Development Planner to join our team at Narrabri Shire Council. As a key member of our planning department, you will be responsible for conducting statutory and strategic planning in a timely and professional manner, with customer satisfaction being central to the process.
Key Responsibilities:- Development Assessment: Carry out robust development assessment within the relevant statutory framework, ensuring compliance with local government planning/building/compliance legislation.
- Reporting and Representation: Prepare reports and represent Council as needed, providing expert advice on major project applications.
- DA Determination: Aim to have Development Applications (DAs) determined within 20 days, exceeding customer expectations by delivering a customer-centric service.
- Research and Reporting: Research and prepare technical reports for Council's determination, requiring a sound understanding of applicable local government planning/building/compliance legislation.
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science or equivalent discipline with demonstrated experience in Town Planning / Development Assessment, within a local government context.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead and influence others.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and connect with communities.
- Strong project management skills and experience in managing complex projects.
- A track record of delivering high-quality work within set timeframes.
- A good understanding of local government planning and compliance legislation.
