About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Executive Manager Financial Performance to join our team at City of Palmerston. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial strategies, budgets, and compliance with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Foster cross-departmental collaboration and guide staff to align their understanding and deliverables with the Community Plan.
  • Financial Oversight: Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial strategies, budgets, and compliance with legislative requirements, including managing cash flow, investments, and funding contracts.
  • Strategic Planning: Oversee the Municipal and Long-Term Financial Plans, ensuring effective delivery and quarterly reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive the enhancement of financial systems, internal controls, and staff training to maintain compliance and support modern practices.
  • Policy & Reporting: Develop policies aligned with strategic objectives, ensure compliance with the Local Government Act, and deliver clear reports to leadership teams.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in financial management, including financial performance and position.
  • Experience and familiarity with relevant Accounting Standards, particularly in relation to infrastructure accounting and ability to clearly articulate financial reports at a senior level.
  • A deep understanding and experience of principles and managing financial management frameworks, programs, and systems.
  • A high level of knowledge of financial management issues and challenges, a practical application in a public sector environment, and the ability to manage change processes.
  • Proven ability to manage a wide scope of resources at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead and strategically influence diverse and dynamic teams and contribute to an innovative and positive working environment.
