The role of a Senior Workplace Safety Specialist is to ensure the effective implementation and reporting of workplace safety management systems, as well as driving a strong culture of workplace safety and positive performance at the Southern Distribution Centre in Altona VIC.
About the Position:- Develop and implement site workplace safety policies and procedures to ensure timely reporting of incidents, completion of investigations and corrective action closure.
- Support site management through reporting of workplace safety performance including lead and lag indicators.
- Identify, develop and implement site workplace safety improvement initiatives to improve site workplace safety performance.
- Ensure site compliance to global standards and legal requirements.
- Conduct and coordinate workplace safety training according to annual training plans and requirements.
- A tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or a related field.
- A good understanding of workplace safety and compliance principles.
- Must have a proactive approach in resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders and implementing agreed corrective actions.
- Experience in risk management practices and routines.
- Analyse complex problems to identify multiple root causes.
- Translate policies and standards into practical action plans.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and protecting the environment.
