Workplace Relations & Safety Expert - Join Our Team

We are expanding our team and invite applications for the position of Workplace Relations & Safety Specialist to join our Employment Law practice.

About the Role

We offer a full-service employment law practice specialising in all aspects of workforce management, from employee engagements and contracts to industrial relations, workplace safety, disputes, grievances, and terminations. We deliver targeted, cost-efficient solutions tailored to each client through close partnership with them.

  • Preparing written advices regarding all employment law related issues and industrial relations matters
  • Providing strategic advice regarding employment and industrial relations disputes
  • Appearing at conferences before the relevant court or tribunal
  • Researching case law and providing legal analysis
  • Drafting court documents and settlement agreements
  • Engaging barristers and investigators
  • Instructing counsel and senior lawyers during court hearings, mediations, and conferences
  • Corresponding with opposing solicitors and self-represented applicants
  • Liaising with witnesses and drafting statements and affidavits
  • Delegating work and providing instructions to lawyers, paralegals, and administrative support
  • Mentoring and coaching lawyers to support their development
  • Supporting graduates and seasonal clerks throughout their rotations
  • Retaining and building client relationships and business, including managing certain client relationships
  • Participating in individual and group-wide business development activities
About You

Tertiary qualification in Law and a current Practising Certificate for relevant jurisdiction

Suitable candidates will bring 5-8 years PAE working principally in Employment Law preferably gained in a law practice

  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, problem-solving, and lateral reasoning
  • Skilled at building trusted relationships with stakeholders and earning their confidence
  • Expertise in drafting clear, concise legal documents
  • Efficient in managing files and billing, with strong organisational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding negotiation and influencing abilities
  • Experience facilitating presentations and meetings for diverse group sizes
  • Proactive mindset, willing to challenge the status quo and propose practical solutions
  • Motivated to learn and grow new skills
  • Highly organised, with proven ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Commitment to identifying risks and adhering to established risk management protocols
  • Sound judgement in problem resolution and discernment on when to escalate issues
