Lead Urban Planning Expert Wanted

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised urban planning professional to take on a key leadership role in managing and delivering complex projects.

This autonomous position requires a motivated individual who can run the planning practice independently, as if it were their own business, and has a passion for shaping sustainable urban development.

About the Role
  • Manage and deliver a range of urban planning projects with full ownership and accountability.
  • Prepare and review planning reports, submissions, and presentations for stakeholders ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Provide expert advice and solutions for urban planning matters across various projects.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of planning scheme amendments, development applications, and related documentation.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, government authorities, and the community.
  • Take responsibility for managing projects from start to finish including timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement implementing best practice planning solutions.
Requirements

To be successful you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related field.
  • A basic understanding of planning legal practice and the ability to apply laws effectively.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing urban planning projects and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on providing sustainable solutions to complex challenges.

Desirable skills include at least 8 years' experience in urban planning post-graduate qualifications or membership with the Planning Institute of Australia experience managing urban renewal or large-scale infrastructure projects and proficiency in GIS AutoCAD or other software.
