Job Title: Work, Health and Safety Coordinator

This role involves leading, advising and reporting on work health safety (WHS) strategies, plans and initiatives for a major transportation organization.

About the Role:
  • Assisting with the development of a divisional implementation strategy for providing a comprehensive and integrated WHS system.
  • Implementing, monitoring and reviewing workplace health and safety requirements, including developing strategies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the manager in providing specialist advice to relevant stakeholders.
  • Developing and delivering training sessions to increase awareness of WHS requirements and obligations.
  • Identifying, assessing and managing WHS hazards and issues within the organization.
  • Overseeing division activities and WHS committee meetings, providing guidance, direction and advice.
  • Supporting workplace consultation, safe work practices, injured employee management and contributing to WHS policy and procedure development.
  • Providing guidance and supervision to direct reports through effective task allocation, oversight of daily activities and facilitation of professional development opportunities.
About You:
  • Experience in implementing WHS programs and projects, particularly in complex operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting injured employees and facilitating their return to duty for work and non-work-related injuries.
  • Ability to undertake safety investigations and provide written reports detailing recommended corrective actions.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of WHS issues and trends, with proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and standards when providing advice.
  • The ability to lead and support team members to ensure effective performance management and foster professional development.
  • Relevant safety qualification, preferably in rail safety.
