Our organization is looking for a highly skilled Estimator to join our team.
Job Description
- Lead small to medium estimates or components of large estimates, reviewing associated bid documents.
- Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Ensure full quantity take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials from project documents.
- Support the estimate lead in populating tender forms, generating requests for information, and establishing a pursuit schedule.
- Recognize risks related to project requirements, site, schedule, and market conditions, using contract terms to identify risks and opportunities.
- Assist with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving estimate information for transfer to the project team.
- Perform bid-day assignments and support other estimators to successfully close various scopes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including lead estimator, lead bid runner, subtrade partners, and suppliers.
- Solicit competitive pricing from subtrade partners and suppliers for pursuit support.
- Establish a critical path schedule for the estimate/pursuit.
- Lead a small team, mentor, and coach indirect reports.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
- Four years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with six months of on-site experience preferred.
- General construction knowledge; understanding specifications, drawings, materials, and methods and procedures.
- Intermediate knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation; including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, subtrade partner procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, general expense philosophy, and bid-closing procedures.
- Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, business trends, internal historical information, and competitors.
- Familiarity with different delivery methods: hard bid, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), unit price, design-build, target prices, and cost reimbursable.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders, including soliciting subtrade partners and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite, and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
