Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annumAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist to join our Financial Lines and Professional Indemnity claims team. As a key member of our team, you will partner with National Managers on portfolio health, complex claim strategy, and decision-making.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about resolving large, technically complex claims and mentoring others. You will have strong commercial acumen, pragmatic advice, and a customer-centric approach developed through diverse claims management experience.
You will be responsible for providing technical decision-making for specialty claims teams across portfolios, serving as the next-level decision-maker for complex claim referrals, coaching and mentoring senior claims officers, and supporting the design and implementation of processes and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical decision-making for specialty claims teams across portfolios.
- Serve as the next-level decision-maker for complex claim referrals from senior claims officers and leaders.
- Coach and mentor senior claims officers, claims officers, and coaches.
- Support the design and implementation of processes and internal controls to ensure adherence to risk frameworks and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with the National Manager to set benchmarks for technical performance, fostering a high-performing and engaging team environment.
- Design and implement improvements to elevate technical decision-making within specialty claims teams and the broader Commercial Claims business.
- Critically assess legal panel advice and support claims officers in implementing reserving and claims strategies, ensuring decisions are both commercially and customer-focused.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations regarding likely claim outcomes and portfolio impacts.
- Minimum 5 years' experience managing complex claims across financial lines and professional indemnity risks.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in coaching and people development.
- Experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Experience as an associate or senior associate-level lawyer in an insurance law firm is highly desirable.
