Postdoctoral Researcher in Meteorology/Hydrometeorology

The Department of Ocean Engineering and Marine Sciences at Florida Tech is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Drs. Steven Lazarus and Pallav Ray to explore the physical processes that influence the sea breeze and heat stress in a warmer climate. The research will involve a combination of observations and high-resolution modeling in collaboration with Drs. Jiali Wang, William Pringle, and Haochen Tan from the Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze large datasets and conduct downscaling experiments over urban areas for thermal mapping and flood forecasting using high-resolution models.
- Develop and implement high-performance computing algorithms for atmospheric modeling.
- Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds to achieve research goals.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Hydrology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in atmospheric modeling and high-performance computing.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Fortran, Matlab, Python, R, NCL, etc.).
