Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Fellow – Critical Metals

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Fellow to join our team at Swinburne University in a critical metals research role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with researchers from Swinburne University and CSIRO, as well as industry partners, to develop innovative solutions for sustainable mineral processing and green steel production.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct independent research projects within a broader team environment, identifying complementary expertise and initiating appropriate collaborations.
- Analyse the state of areas of technology from publications and patents, and apply this knowledge to develop new research directions.
- Collaborate with researchers from Swinburne University and CSIRO to develop and implement new methods for metallothermic reduction, a process that utilizes metals for extracting critical metals from ores or secondary resources without carbon emissions.
- Contribute to the development of a new Swinburne-CSIRO joint program on Sustainable Mineral Processing and Green Steel, aimed at addressing global decarbonization challenges through innovative research and development.
- Doctoral qualification (or research experience) in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related areas.
- Hands-on experience in high temperature experimentations (kinetics and equilibrium) and thermodynamic/kinetics modelling.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
