Pride in Place is a vital role within our organisation, focusing on LGBTQIA+ Initial Assessment and Planning. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to provide tailored support and advocacy.
This position demands strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when supporting people experiencing trauma or housing crises. Workers must respond with flexibility and sensitivity, delivering person-centred and innovative support within the limitations of the homelessness service system.
The Pride in Place worker enhances this model by engaging with LGBTQIA+ clients in the places they feel safest — whether through outreach, in their current accommodation, or within trusted community service settings.
This role is ideal for individuals who excel in a client-centred, solutions-focused environment, and who are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments with LGBTQIA+ clients, focusing on lived experiences, identified strengths and risks, and personal goals.
- Provide accurate and relevant information on topics such as housing options, tenancy legislation, and allied service systems.
- Advocate for clients, particularly when liaising with real estate agents and housing providers.
