Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Research Fellow to lead the forest resource assessment component of a pioneering project within our Forest and Landscape Dynamics Research Group.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct innovative research using remote sensing and participatory GIS mapping to develop strategic frameworks for sustainable forestry practices.
- Collaborate with project investigators, contributing to high-impact publications and presenting findings at international conferences and seminars.
- Engage with key stakeholders, liaising with industry partners and government bodies to ensure practical relevance of research outcomes.
- Support student development by contributing to teaching and supervision of research students, primarily at the undergraduate level.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- PhD in forest ecology or a related field, with strong GIS and remote sensing skills and experience in designing and implementing field-based research programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-disciplinary research environment and engage with industry stakeholders and foster collaborative partnerships.
