About the Role

The overall purpose of this position is to provide care and/or support to children and young people in foster or kinship care. The care and support provided will enhance opportunities for the young person to participate in age-appropriate activities to support development of positive self-regard, to support community inclusion, to support positive relations with family of origin and to contribute to placement stability.

  • This role involves being the primary caregiver during shifts, ensuring the safety of young people in care, and imparting essential life skills to establish a consistent routine.
  • Collaborating with the Coordinator and Service Manager, you'll help develop trauma-informed interventions for these young individuals with complex issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Engage children and youth in purposeful activities to enhance life skills.
  • Communicate effectively with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Utilize a trauma-informed approach in understanding child development and behavior.
  • Support youth in activities and foster independent living skills.
  • Effectively contribute to team outcomes.
  • Operate autonomously while seeking guidance as needed.
  • Respond to crises flexibly, considering risk and compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A Certificate IV or higher qualification in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Services, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current Blue Card.
  • Current Licensed Care Service (LCS).
  • Completion of Hope and Healing Framework training.
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
