The Information Governance Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing day-to-day information governance activities. This encompasses, but is not limited to, Subject Access Requests (SARs), the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), application of GDPR, management of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit, Data Protection Impact Assessments, and information sharing agreements.

As Deputy Data Protection Officer, the successful candidate will provide expert advice to the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Caldicott Guardian, and wider staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer the Ulysses system, monitoring SARs and information governance incidents, and conducting investigations when necessary.
  • Identify and escalate data breach incidents, managing external reporting as required.
  • Lead the development, delivery, and monitoring of information governance training, encompassing cyber security and data protection.
  • Implement effective methods to capture and report on data supporting Information Governance, enhancing service quality and safety, and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Offer specialist knowledge and advice across all aspects of Information Governance to patients, service users, members of the public, and colleagues at various organisational levels.
  • Manage risk identification, assessment, reporting, and management in relation to all aspects of IG, including regular reporting to the SIRO/Head of Quality & Safety.
About You

You should possess:

  • A degree qualification or equivalent experience working within an Information Governance and Data Protection field.
  • GDPR/Data Protection certification or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Significant experience implementing DPIAs, Data Processing and Sharing Agreements within a health or social care organisation.
  • Experience leading an information governance framework, handling Freedom of Information Act requirements, Information Security, IG statutory compliance, Records Management, and Caldicott Guardian issues.
  • Experience with Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
  • Experience of decision-making and prioritisation in a health and social care setting.
  • Experience managing a team.
