The position of Information Governance Specialist is a key component in the effective management and implementation of day-to-day information governance activities. This role will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization's information management systems.
Main Responsibilities:- Implement information governance activities for Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Security and Protection Toolkit, Data Protection Impact Assessments, and information sharing agreements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to provide expert advice on data protection matters, including managing external reporting where necessary.
- Administer the Ulysses system, monitoring SARs and information governance incidents, and carrying out investigations when required.
- Identify and escalate data breach incidents, providing specialist knowledge and advice across all aspects of Information Governance to patients, service users, and colleagues at all levels.
- Develop, deliver, and monitor information governance training, including cyber security and data protection.
- Design methods to capture and report on data supporting Information Governance, enhancing the quality and safety of services and achieving key performance indicators.
- You will have a degree qualification or equivalent experience in Information Governance and Data Protection.
- You should hold a GDPR/Data Protection qualification or be willing to work towards it.
- You will have significant experience implementing Data Protection Impact Assessments, Data Processing and Sharing Agreements within a health or social care organization.
- You should have experience leading an information governance framework, handling Freedom of Information Act requirements, Information Security, IG statutory compliance, Records Management, and Caldicott Guardian issues.
- You will have experience with Data Security and Protection Toolkit requirements and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).
- You should have decision-making and prioritizing experience in a health and social care setting.
- You will have team management experience.
