About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Process Technician to join our team at Rio Tinto's Boyne Smelters in Central Queensland. As a Process Technician, you will play a vital role in the safe and sustainable production of aluminium.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate mobile and fixed plant equipment to support operational departments.
  • Perform process operations, including cell dressing, raising beams, and tapping and transferring bath.
  • Drive mobile equipment, such as forklifts, as required.
  • Conduct process operations, including process control, casting hot metal, and operating fixed plant equipment.
  • Transport metal using specialized equipment and perform furnace preparation, casting pit operation, and ingot machine operation.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working in a heavy industrial environment, preferably in a trade or process role.
  • Current valid driver's licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage workload autonomously.
  • Ability to work in a labour-intensive role, in confined spaces, at heights, and in hot environments.
  • Operating mobile equipment, such as forklifts, elevated work platforms, and overhead gantry cranes, is preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness and ability to work on a lifestyle roster, including 12-hour shifts, days, and nights.
