We are looking for an NDT Technician to provide a specialist Non-Destructive Testing Service to the Rio Tinto Yarwun refinery. This is a great role for an individual who is excited about growing their career within a global company. What we are looking for is someone with a strong safety focus and a good attitude. If you have a desire to work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy dealing with a broad range of stakeholders, then this role is for you.
This role is a great opportunity to work within the maintenance strategy to perform various non-destructive testing techniques to monitor plant condition. These include, Ultrasonic Thickness Testing, crack detection and weld inspection. There are opportunities to also work alongside other Condition Monitoring Technicians in Vibration Analysis, Motion Amplification and ROV Operations.

Reporting to the Condition Monitoring Team Leader and working in a diverse team within the Engineering department, you will:
Be able to produce detailed plant condition reports with relevant standards. Complete routine inspections on all equipment across the site Maintain the refinery’s Non Destructive Testing Reporting Systems and identify changes to the maintenance strategy based on plant condition data. A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team AINDT qualifications or equivalent in Ultrasonic Testing Level 1, Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 Strong commitment to safety Motivation and commitment to learn a new skill and grow your career Good working knowledge of NDT A passion for improving plant and ensuring a safe and reliable asset.It would also be beneficial if you have:

Where you’ll be working
Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually. As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.
With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
