About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at Rio Tinto's Boyne Smelter in Gladstone, Queensland. As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy industry equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair mechanical assets across the smelter, focusing on unplanned breakdowns and plant limiting work.
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment failures to improve reliability.
  • Identify defects and provide feedback on asset performance and health.
  • Work autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives, working with various disciplines within the organization.
  • Promote and identify HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes, and behaviors.
Requirements
  • A commitment to safety and a valid C Class driver's license.
  • A Mechanical Engineering or Fitter & Turner trade qualification.
  • Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various fixed plant equipment.
  • Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry.
