About The Role

The Newcastle office of Whitehaven Coal has an opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join our dynamic team due to continued growth in our business. This role involves coordinating payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate remuneration distribution to employees.

This includes calculating and paying monthly and weekly wages for various enterprise agreements as well as processing payroll for salaried employees.

Responsibilities

  • Process and distribute payroll accurately and on time
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations where necessary
  • Onboard new employees into our system
  • Manage employee leave forms and maintain up-to-date records
  • Stay informed about relevant awards, bargaining agreements, and legislation affecting payroll and the coal industry
  • Provide reporting and analysis to support business decisions

What You'll Bring

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • Relevant experience as a Senior Payroll Officer in a large organization
  • Familiarity with enterprise agreements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Pulse software and Dayforce software (desired)
  • Certificate III or IV in Financial Services - Accounts Clerical (desired)
