As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a small group of talented lawyers, ensuring they are kept busy and engaged. Our Franchising lawyers have worked with numerous franchisors (both Australian and international) to help grow their Australian franchise network.

We assist clients with establishing franchise systems and the ongoing work that follows, including drafting and negotiating franchise grants, renewals, and surrenders. You will also be involved in assisting clients with franchise buybacks and sales, franchising-related disputes, and other commercial legal needs.

To succeed in this role, you will need strong technical ability in franchise law, effective project management skills, and excellent client service abilities. Additionally, you should demonstrate a genuine interest in people management and be enthusiastic about coaching and developing direct reports and other team members.

Key Requirements
  • 4+ years' experience from a reputable law firm or busy in-house team;
  • Demonstrated franchising law experience advising franchisors on their obligations under the ACL and the Franchising Code of Conduct;
  • Broad commercial and consumer law experience;
  • Enthusiasm about coaching and developing direct reports and other team members;
  • A can-do attitude and desire to work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • The ability to step up and take responsibility for day-to-day transactions;
  • Strong drafting skills (e.g., franchising/commercial/business law documents, as well as articles for our website); and
  • A strong desire to get involved in broader business development activities both in and outside the office.
About the Role

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary package, including an estimated $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a fast-paced NewLaw environment with minimal hierarchy and no corporate red tape.
