Franchising Team Lead Opportunity at LegalVision

We are seeking an experienced lawyer to join our successful Franchising team as a Practice Leader.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented legal professional with strong technical ability in franchise law, effective project management skills, and a genuine interest in people management. As a Practice Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team of lawyers, ensuring they are engaged and motivated. You will also work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis, providing proactive, affordable, and commercial legal support.

Our Franchising lawyers have worked with hundreds of franchisors (Australian and international) to help grow their Australian franchise network. We assist with establishing franchise systems, drafting and negotiating franchise grants, renewals, and surrenders. Additionally, we provide assistance with franchise buybacks, sales, franchising-related disputes, and other commercial legal needs. To ensure you get a variety of work, you may also assist with some Intellectual Property matters.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 4+ years' experience from a reputable law firm or busy in-house team;
  • Demonstrated franchising law experience advising franchisors on their obligations under the ACL and the Franchising Code of Conduct;
  • Broad commercial and consumer law experience;
  • Enthusiasm about coaching and developing direct reports and other team members;
  • A desire to work closely with clients and have a 'can-do' attitude;
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • The ability to step up and take on responsibility for day-to-day transactions;
  • Strong drafting skills (e.g., franchising/commercial/business law documents, articles for our website); and
  • A strong desire to get involved in broader business development activities both in the office and outside of it.
