We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to lead our successful Franchising team. As a key member of our legal services team, you will work closely with clients across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, providing expert advice on franchise law and related commercial matters.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in franchise law, excellent technical ability, and effective project management skills. You will be responsible for managing a small team of talented lawyers, ensuring they are kept busy and engaged, while also providing coaching and development opportunities.
You will have a genuine interest in people management and a can-do attitude, with a desire to work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis. Commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet are essential, as well as excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Responsibilities- Provide expert advice on franchise law and related commercial matters to clients across Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
- Manage a small team of talented lawyers, ensuring they are kept busy and engaged.
- Coach and develop direct reports and other team members.
- Work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis, demonstrating a genuine interest in people management.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 4+ years experience from a reputable law firm or busy in-house team.
- Demonstrated franchising law experience advising franchisors in relation to their obligations under the ACL and more specifically, the Franchising Code of Conduct.
- Broad commercial and consumer law experience.
- Enthusiastic about coaching and developing direct reports and other team members.
- A desire to work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis, and a can-do attitude.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
