We are seeking an accomplished lawyer to join our thriving Franchising team as a Practice Leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of talented lawyers, providing guidance and support to ensure they are engaged and productive.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow our franchise law practice, including establishing new client relationships and identifying business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality legal services to clients, with a focus on franchise law, intellectual property, and commercial matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in franchise law and regulations, providing expert advice to clients and the team.

About the Role

As a Practice Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team of lawyers, ensuring they are kept busy and engaged. You will demonstrate strong technical ability in franchise law, effective project management, and client service skills.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience from a reputable law firm or busy in-house team.
  • Demonstrated experience in franchise law, advising franchisors on their obligations under the ACL and the Franchising Code of Conduct.
  • Broad commercial and consumer law experience.
  • Enthusiasm for coaching and developing direct reports and other team members.
  • A desire to work closely with clients on a day-to-day basis and a can-do attitude.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to step up and take on responsibility for day-to-day transactions.
  • Strong drafting skills, including franchise, commercial, and business law documents, as well as articles for our website.
  • A strong desire to get involved in broader business development activities, both in the office and outside of it.
