First Peoples Engagement Specialist

The role focuses on assisting the business in meeting its First Peoples employment, procurement, training, and community engagement targets. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering programs that uplift the attraction, retention, and career progression of First Peoples employees within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to meet First Nations procurement targets.
  • Deliver programs that promote the growth and development of First Peoples employees.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive outcomes for First Peoples in alignment with contract requirements.
  • Collaborate across the organisation to promote cultural awareness and ensure First Peoples engagement initiatives are embedded into business operations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with First Peoples businesses, networks, and communities.
  • Support the implementation of First Peoples Participation Plans across business units.
  • Contribute to the delivery of Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) commitments, tracking progress, and reporting outcomes.

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience in First Peoples community engagement within the services, construction, or infrastructure industry.
  • Experience in employment programs, procurement, stakeholder engagement, or related disciplines.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with First Peoples businesses, networks, and communities.
  • Ability to effectively liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and local community groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in community services, engagement, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
