Job Role Overview

The Senior Employee Relations Advisor will assist schools with strategic planning, negotiation and approval of Enterprise Agreements in an industrial environment.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Providing written and telephone advice to school leaders on Employee Relations matters.
  • Managing underperformance, Award and Enterprise Agreement compliance, change management and ill and injured workers.
  • Visiting schools for bargaining meetings due to assistance with enterprise bargaining being a key responsibility of the role.

The successful candidate is expected to develop strong relationships with leadership teams and other stakeholders, and have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant workplace relations legislation.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an Employee Relations Specialist.
  • Demonstrated ability in negotiating, drafting and approval of enterprise agreements in unionised environments.
  • Credibility, integrity and trust; Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to provide clear and accurate written advice on complex employee relations issues.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the education sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or Law.

Professional Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in Employee Relations Specialist roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing Enterprise Agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations.
