QBuild, a key commercial entity of the Queensland Government, has been the builder for the state for over 160 years, playing a vital role in community development by constructing and maintaining government-owned facilities such as educational institutions, social housing, law enforcement buildings, and healthcare facilities.

Role Overview

In this crucial position, you will support QBuild's mission to enhance Queensland's construction sector by ensuring financial accuracy, overseeing administrative functions, and delivering essential insights for strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities and Skills
  • Review expenditure reports to ensure accurate cost allocation and identify necessary accruals and journal entries for month-end processes.
  • Effectively supervise administrative and support personnel, ensuring appropriate task distribution for optimal administrative support.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Suppliers to encourage the adoption of the Invoice Portal as the preferred method for QBuild Suppliers.
  • Proactively oversee staff performance and conduct.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures, guidelines, and training as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and administrative standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant government regulations, including Freedom of Information requests; support disaster management financial arrangements as needed; contribute to operational and strategic planning, client reporting, and provide input for ministerial briefings and other requests from senior management.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven strong interpersonal abilities, with a talent for fostering effective working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • While formal qualifications in accounting or a related field are not mandatory, they will be viewed favorably.
