Job Title: Legal Advisor Role

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

This role involves providing legal advice and managing a caseload in relation to the investigation and prosecution of criminal offences under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. Additionally, the role will support the legal services division by working collaboratively across all areas of health practitioner regulation and providing legal advice and support to the Agency and the National Boards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering expert legal advice on criminal investigations, ensuring compliance with the National Law, applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice. They will also manage a high-volume caseload, including complex and low-risk prosecutions, and provide legal advice and support to Inspectors and other Agency colleagues.
