Midwifery Patient Safety Clinical Lead Role

The Midwifery Patient Safety Clinical Lead will be part of a passionate, innovative and collaborative team delivering exceptional, safe, and person-centred care across a vibrant and diverse region. This role gives you the platform to lead meaningful change at both the frontline and strategic levels, shaping better health outcomes for women and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and Championing Clinical Governance Principles: Building capacity and empowering clinicians and managers to improve systems and outcomes.
  • Shaping Policy and Procedure Development: Ensuring alignment with evidence-based best practice and NSW Health standards.
  • Driving Patient Safety Initiatives: Using data analysis, risk identification and performance monitoring to inform decisions and support clinical excellence.
  • Collaborating Strategically: Working with internal and external stakeholders to promote consistent and high-quality care.
  • Supporting Staff Through Change Management: Helping to embed a culture of reflection, transparency and proactive safety.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Extensive clinical and management experience in the maternity environment or postgraduate qualifications at masters level in specialisation or equivalent work experience. Demonstrated experience in quality, safety, and clinical risk management within a complex/acute maternity environment.

Demonstrated knowledge of clinical systems and health services, including understanding of human and other factors impacting on patient safety. High-level interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influencing, and motivational skills to build and maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training skills to support change management initiatives. Evidence of a current class C driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel for work purposes.
