
Child Family Support Specialist

The Response Practitioner plays a pivotal role in delivering rapid, culturally sensitive, and intensive services to children and families. This involves utilizing a case management and care team approach, providing therapeutic and trauma-informed supports that prioritize the voice, choice, cultural identity, and lived expertise of children and their families and carers.
This role requires the practitioner to work within a comprehensive evidence-based framework, providing responsive, intensive, and sustainable support to children and families at risk of entry into care or where safe reunification is appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering services to children and families using a case management and care team approach
- Providing therapeutic and trauma-informed supports
- Engaging with children and their families to understand their needs and priorities
- Working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support
- Developing and implementing risk and needs assessments, interventions, and risk management strategies
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor qualification in early childhood development, youth work, psychology, social work, or related tertiary qualification
- Experience in family services, youth work, early childhood services, social work, or related field
- Strong communication skills, including effective interpersonal, conflict negotiation, and resolution skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Significant experience in working with and providing active and assertive engagement in casework with children, young parents, and their families
