Foster Family Support Specialist

This critical role is designed to empower extended family members and close family friends who take on the responsibility of caring for a child. Our Foster Family Support Specialist will work closely with these carers to provide tailored support, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to give a child the love and stability they deserve.

About This Position
  • The Foster Family Support Specialist will conduct thorough assessments and develop comprehensive support plans that cater to the unique needs of each child and their carer family.
  • They will offer ongoing case management and crisis intervention services to help families navigate complex challenges and maintain stability.
  • In addition, this specialist will facilitate family meetings and mediate challenging conversations to promote open communication and understanding.
  • The role also involves connecting families with community resources and support services to establish a network of care and assistance.
  • To ensure a coordinated approach to supporting each child's well-being, the Foster Family Support Specialist will collaborate with courts, schools, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to compliance standards is essential to delivering the highest level of care and accountability.
Key Requirements
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience in child protection, family services, or community work.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed practice and cultural sensitivity.
  • A current Working with Children Check and driver's license.
