About the Role

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is a leading provider of commercial property, casualty, and specialty insurance solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Executive & Professional Lines team, specializing in Financial Institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a book of business aligned with the team's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a profitable portfolio of financial lines business.
  • Establish and expand relationships with brokers and customers.
  • Underwrite assigned accounts with thorough analysis and documentation.
  • Work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, multitasking and making timely decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
  • Underwrite complex and challenging risks, developing creative solutions for partners.
  • Collaborate with the in-house claims team to deliver a positive and transparent customer experience.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in Financial Lines underwriting.
  • Strong underwriting fundamentals, with a focus on Financial Institutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial analysis and market trends.
  • Existing relationships with brokers and customers, or the ability to develop strong relationships quickly.
  • Experience working with specialized brokers is preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation, written communication, and presentation experience.
  • Degree or equivalent education, and/or insurance qualifications.
