About the Role

Chubb is a world leader in insurance, providing commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, reinsurance and life insurance to a diverse group of clients. As an underwriting company, we assess, assume and manage risk with insight and discipline.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Process / Analysis
    • Follow established guidelines and within the scope of delegated authority, determine the acceptability of new lines and renewals.
    • Utilize appropriate endorsements and apply adequate pricing structure.
    • Consult with manager on risks exceeding delegated authority.
    • Maintain awareness of claim activity with assigned book and communicate with adjusters as needed.
    • Monitor underwriting results and premium and loss trends.
    • Oversee underwriting judgment and authority of less experienced members of staff.
  • Production
    • Analyze and monitor quality, volume and mix of business for assigned producers.
    • Review performance reports, enforce accounts, and make quality-control recommendations.
    • Visit producers and insureds alone and with senior staff to communicate department philosophy and increase market share.
    • Increase producers' awareness of appetite, products and advantages through product presentations.
    • Participate in joint travel with members of other underwriting departments.
    • Establish and maintain travel program with less experienced staff to assist in development of marketing techniques.
    • Active participation in business development activities, including drafting and distribution of market letters to key producers.
  • Service
    • Adhere to established department service goals, anticipate and respond to needs of producers, identify and report deficiencies and suggest changes for improvements.
    • Utilize statistical reports to monitor service goals, observe service goals of less experienced members of staff and make constructive suggestions for improvement.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of insurance or underwriting experience.
  • Working knowledge of financial institutions sector and/or knowledge of financial lines insurance.
  • High degree of technical underwriting ability; oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
