Volunteer Animal Ethics Committee Member

Monash University is seeking volunteer members for its Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) to ensure the ethical, humane, and responsible care and use of animals for scientific purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Review research activities involving animals to ensure scientific merit and animal welfare.
- Assess the ethical implications of research projects and provide recommendations.
- Participate in AEC meetings and discussions to ensure robust review of projects and effective operation of the Committee.
- Attend meetings in-person and contribute to the development of knowledge related to the legislative framework governing animal use in research and teaching.
- Category A (Veterinarian): Qualifications in veterinary science and experience relevant to the research and teaching activities of Monash University.
- Category C (Animal Welfare): Demonstrable commitment to and established experience in furthering the welfare of animals, with no current involvement in the care and use of animals for scientific purposes.
- Honorarium to support costs associated with performing the role and attending meetings.
- Working lunch at in-person meetings.
- Training support for the role as an AEC member.
- Access to the resources of the Monash University libraries.
