Role Summary

This is a fixed-term, full-time position commencing as soon as possible and ending on December 2026.

About the Position

The Principal Consultant will be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Department's Two-way Science Initiative.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support schools in building positive relationships with parents/carers and local Aboriginal communities to develop culturally responsive teaching and learning programs for primary and secondary school students.
  • Plan and coordinate activities with community groups and school curriculum teams to develop school-based Two-way Science programs.
  • Identify and address challenges in the initiative's delivery, provide expert advice and guidance, and oversee risk management to ensure safe and effective implementation of the program.
Requirements
  • A deep understanding of Kimberley Aboriginal communities and the ability to build effective working relationships with Aboriginal school communities and other key stakeholders.
  • Cultural organisational knowledge and experience in planning and coordinating activities with Indigenous communities.
  • High-level project management skills with a proven ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate initiatives in a complex environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build mutually respectful relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and stakeholders.
