Position Overview

This is a fixed term, full-time role commencing as soon as possible and ending 31 December 2026. The Two-way Science Initiative connects the Western Australian Science Curriculum to Aboriginal knowledges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing culturally responsive teaching programs for primary and secondary school students by building positive relationships with parents/carers and local Aboriginal communities.
  • Planning and coordinating school-based Two-way Science programs with Ranger Groups, community groups and curriculum teams.
  • Overseeing risk management and providing expert advice to ensure safe and effective implementation of the program.

The position requires in-depth knowledge of Kimberley Aboriginal communities and the ability to build effective working relationships with Aboriginal school communities and other key stakeholders.

Requirements:
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the appointment term.
  • Concent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
  • Hold a current 'C' class drivers' licence.
  • Travel throughout the state, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations and small aeroplanes to remote areas.
  • Obtain a current Working with Children Check.
