Job Description:

The Two-Way Science Initiative is a program that supports schools in building partnerships with Aboriginal communities to develop integrated culturally responsive learning programs. The foundation of a Two-Way Science learning program is cultural and ecological knowledge taught by local Aboriginal people to students on-country and in the classroom across the Kimberley region.



Key Requirements:

This role requires cultural organisational knowledge in planning and coordinating activities with Ranger Groups, community groups and school curriculum teams in developing school based Two-Way Science programs. You will also be responsible for identifying and addressing challenges in the initiative's delivery, providing expert advice and guidance, and overseeing risk management to ensure safe and effective implementation of the program.

Minimum Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
• Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
• Hold and maintain a current 'C' or 'C.A.' class drivers' licence.
• Undertake travel throughout the state, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations and travelling in small aeroplanes to remote locations as required.
• Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.



Selection Criteria:

The selection criteria for this position are as follows:
• Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of policies, frameworks and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Demonstrated high-level project management skills with a proven ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate culturally responsive initiatives in a complex environment.
• Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build mutually respectful relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities, organisations and stakeholders.
