Defence and Veterans' Leadership Position

The Australian Government invites applications from exceptional leaders to be considered for appointment as a key figure in defence and veterans' services.
The Commission provides independent oversight and evidence-based advice to government on system reforms to improve wellbeing outcomes for serving and ex-serving Defence Force members.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a full-time leader, appointed for a period not exceeding five years.
- Provide independent leadership and oversight of reform across the Defence ecosystem.
- Exercise legislative powers and functions as set out in legislation and uphold the integrity of the Commission.
- Foster effective working relationships with stakeholders, including people with lived experience of wellbeing challenges.
- Expressions of interest from eligible and suitably qualified professionals.
- Ability to perform the role independently and lead reform across the Defence ecosystem.
- Relevant background, skills, and experience in governance and public administration.
- Commitment to promoting wellbeing outcomes for Defence Force members.
