Job Summary:

The Aboriginal Statewide Principal Practitioner leads the delivery of culturally informed practice consistency that supports better outcomes for children, young people and their families.

This role assists, supports and develops the skills of Child Protection staff in their work with children, young people and families through involvement in practice, professional development, consultation, case reviews and the provision of specialist advice and input to practitioners, managers and stakeholders.

The role facilitates a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement, supporting and enabling complex and systemic issues related to child abuse and neglect to be considered from a variety of perspectives.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide authoritative leadership and make sound decisions based on expertise and research that deliver positive outcomes for children and families.
  • Establish service delivery standards that embed collaborative approaches to decision making and reflective practice in child protection work across the state.
  • Provide expert intervention that informs the management and intervention of complex behaviours and cases and the development of targeted strategies.
