The Opportunity
Icon Water is seeking a Commercial Analyst / Management Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will partner with the Digital Technology Group and the Customer Engagement Group, providing strategic commercial and financial support and advice to drive organisational performance. The role will also support the broader commercial team to deliver on key pieces of work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic commercial and financial support and advice to drive organisational performance through information, analysis, and insights.
- Support the monthly management accounting, financial performance reporting, and analysis activities for the Group.
- Support the Group's planning, budgeting, and forecasting process.
- Prepare financial reports with insights, analysis, and commentary based on stakeholder needs and requirements.
- Support preparation of business cases, new initiatives, commercial negotiations, and tenders.
- Support financial analysis to drive operational performance and deliver commercial outcomes.
- Support significant procurement or commercial activities.
- Support and uphold the standards of data governance and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data in the Financial Information Management System (FIMS).
- Support commercial arrangements, identifying and pursuing commercial opportunities.
- Develop business cases/plans and strategies including financial modelling, cost optimisation, and efficiency plans, contracting advice, strategic assessment, and risk mitigation to support commercial advice.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a commercial management accountant with a background in large, complex businesses. They will display well-developed communication skills and a can-do attitude. With a naturally curious nature, they will ask insightful questions to understand the division and once they understand the business areas, they will be able to query assumptions and interrogate/analyse financial data.
The candidate will also pride themselves on the ability to see through a problem from start to finish as well as finding efficiencies rather than following processes. They will enjoy management accounting with its flow of budgets/forecast/analysis and like to own their work and the outcomes. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance as well as membership to CA or CPA is required.
