With approximately 190,000 customers in the Capital region, their assets are worth over $3.2 billion, comprising the ACT's network of dams, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, reservoirs, mains, and water and sewage pumping stations. They turnover approximately $490M in revenue annually.
The Opportunity
There are two opportunities available for a Commercial Analyst / Management Accountant to join the team. One is focused on partnering with the Digital Technology Group, and the other will be partnering with the Customer Engagement Group. While this will be the core focus, the role will also support the broader commercial team to deliver on key pieces of work.
Led by a forward-thinking CFO, they continue to attract a team of high-performing problem solvers. The long-term strategy is to continually move towards an enabling environment where manual processes are streamlined, and data is used to drive smart business decisions.
The Role
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Partner with the group to provide strategic commercial and financial support and advice to drive organisational performance through information, analysis, and insights.
- Support the monthly management accounting, financial performance reporting, and analysis activities for the Group.
- Support the Group's planning, budgeting, and forecasting process.
- Preparation of financial reports with insights, analysis, and commentary based on stakeholder needs and requirements.
- Support preparation of business cases, new initiatives, commercial negotiations, and tenders.
- Support financial analysis to drive operational performance and deliver commercial outcomes.
- Support significant procurement or commercial activities.
- Support and uphold the standards of data governance and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data in the Financial Information Management System (FIMS).
- Support commercial arrangements, identifying and pursuing commercial opportunities.
- Develop business cases/plans and strategies including financial modelling, cost optimisation, and efficiency plans, contracting advice, strategic assessment, and risk mitigation to support commercial advice.
The Ideal Person
You are a commercial management accountant with a background in large, complex businesses. You display well-developed communication skills and are known for a can-do attitude. With a naturally curious nature, you will ask insightful questions to understand the division and once you understand the business areas, you will be able to query assumptions and interrogate/analyse financial data.
You also pride yourself on the ability to see through a problem from start to finish as well as finding efficiencies rather than following processes. You enjoy management accounting with its flow of budgets/forecast/analysis and like to own your work and the outcomes. You are looking for a strong Manager who can help uplift your learning/knowledge/thinking and stretch you.
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance as well as membership to CA or CPA is required.
