Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our Psychiatric Emergency Care Team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a passion for providing high-quality care to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, and support to consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families.
- Take ownership of undertaking a range of mental health clinical duties, including leadership, direction, and supervision of multi-disciplinary staff in service delivery to clients.
- Actively promote and implement the agreed model of care for the service, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
- Deputise for the manager as required, demonstrating ability to work effectively within a team structure and as a sole clinician.
- Maintain clinical systems and information management processes that support service delivery, ensuring seamless communication with internal and external services.
- Conduct assessments in a timely manner, complete safety plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, and the multi-disciplinary team, and use current evidence-based interventions to meet identified needs.
- Monitor consumers' physical/medical state and associate treatments in conjunction with their mental state and associated treatments, providing pharmacological/psychoeducation specific to their requirements.
- Adhere to organisational documentation guidelines when recording treatment and support in a comprehensive, factual, and sequential manner.
- Participate in and provide clinician supervision, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Qualifications in either Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Clinical Psychology.
- A minimum of 4 years post-registration experience in Mental Health, with a proven track record of working in acute adult services, triage services, and/or mental health emergency departments.
- The ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care to mental health consumers, demonstrating sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014, mental health conditions, and treatment options.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, collaborating with internal and external services to achieve shared goals.
- A competitive salary of approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
