About the Role

Latrobe Regional Hospital is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinician to join our Psychiatric Emergency Care team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage.

This is a full time or part time ongoing opportunity for a skilled clinician to provide high-standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, and support to consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families.

About the Team

You will be reporting to the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team Manager and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to undertake a range of mental health clinical duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely assessments using CMI (Client Management Interface) documents, prioritizing risk, urgency, distress, dysfunction, and disability.
  • Provide recovery-oriented practice utilizing the Optimal Health Program.
  • Develop and implement safety plans in collaboration with consumers, carers, and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Cultivate partnerships with community organizations to address identified needs.
  • Monitor consumers' physical and medical state, as well as their mental health and associated treatments.
  • Deliver pharmacological and psycho-educational interventions tailored to individual requirements.
  • Engage in clinical work and brief interventions with individuals and families.
  • Facilitate information exchange with General Practitioners and other relevant services.
  • Adhere to responsible rostering and leave management practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive, factual, and sequential documentation according to organizational guidelines.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for mental health consumers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and relevant legislation.
  • The capacity to work effectively within a team structure and as a sole clinician.
  • A demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external services.
  • A working knowledge of NSQHS.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
