Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Ophthalmology

The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will play a pivotal role in a research project focused on glaucoma, aging and mitochondrial turnover. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of quantitative research protocols and assist in building strategic relationships with internal and external collaborators.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and innovative research project at the Save Sight Institute. The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will work closely with the team leader, researchers, chief investigators and key stakeholders to achieve project aims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake activities related to the conduct of quantitative research, including reviews of the scientific literature and preparation of study protocols.
  • Assist in building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external collaborators, including clinicians and health-based staff.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in a relevant field or near completion of a PhD in a relevant field for Level A Research Associate (Research Only).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and contributing to research evidence by producing original, high quality and independent research.
  • A strong interest in working on optic nerve protection.
  • A PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline for Level B Research Fellow.
  • Demonstrated strong expertise in glaucoma animal models and relevant methods of analysis of retinal ganglion cells.
  • Demonstrated expertise in optic nerve drug delivery.
  • Demonstrated strong expertise and experience in retinal primary cell culture.
