About the Role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Boarding Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our residential care team, you will be responsible for providing a safe and supportive environment for Aboriginal students in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and care for Aboriginal students in a residential setting, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Initiate, plan, document, and safely lead a wide range of leisure activities for secondary students, promoting their social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, including those from diverse multicultural backgrounds.
  • Organize and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other activities to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs that promote the well-being and safety of students.
Requirements
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check and obtain a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
  • Obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42021) within six months of commencement of employment.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and be willing to drive a Department vehicle.
  • Be available to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
