About the Role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aboriginal Boarding Supervisor to join our team at Broome Residential College. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students, particularly those from Aboriginal backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for students, promoting a positive and culturally responsive boarding experience.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students, fostering their personal and social growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members to ensure the successful integration of students into our boarding program.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote the well-being and safety of students.
Requirements
  • Be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background, as this is considered an essential requirement for the position.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Community Services - Student Residential Care (CHC42021) or be willing to obtain it within six months of commencement.
  • Have a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures and a commitment to promoting cultural safety and responsiveness.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate positively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Meet the Department's eligibility and training requirements, including obtaining a Working with Children Check and a National Criminal History Check.
