Job Summary

Hume City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to coordinate the operations of our state-of-the-art indoor cricket facility. As a key member of our Active Living team, you will be responsible for promoting facilities and services to enhance participation opportunities for Hume residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Assist the Coordinator Indoor Sports and Programs in the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff as required.
  • Facility Operations: Supervise permanent and casual staff employed to work at identified facilities, including the preparation of staff rosters within developed budgets and reconciliation of timesheets.
  • Financial Management: Prepare monthly facility debtors for processing by the Finance Department and assist in the monitoring and recovery of outstanding debts.
  • Cash Handling: Ensure cash handling processes are implemented and followed by all HICC staff.
  • Tenant Management: Actively seek and coordinate new tenants, services, and opportunities to ensure a diverse range of well-patronized activities are offered to patrons at facilities.
  • Customer Service: Regularly liaise and engage with facility tenants to gauge customer satisfaction and resolve tenant issues.
  • Administrative Systems: Develop, maintain, and monitor administrative systems, procedures, and forms to ensure the efficient and secure operation of sport and community facilities, including customer bookings.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure facilities remain 'fit for purpose' by conducting regular facility inspections to identify, prioritize, and report facility maintenance works for rectification and monitor the timely completion of requested works.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Liaise and gain cooperation with Council's Communications & Events Department to identify and coordinate marketing activities designed to effectively promote facilities and services and increase customer usage and awareness.
  • Capital Works: Assist other Team Leaders and Coordinator of Indoor Sports and Programs in the implementation of capital works and renewal projects at identified facilities.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Ability to gain cooperation and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Professional Networks: The development of, and participation in, professional networks relating to recreational issues is essential.
  • Organizational Knowledge: An understanding of the function of the position within its organisational context, including relevant policies, regulations, and precedents.
  • Recreation Principles: Proficiency in the application of recreation 'principles' gained through appropriate training in recreation and continued updating of theoretical principles, and the ability to apply those principles to local recreation issues.
  • Facility Management: An understanding and application of facility management and current recreational trends.
  • Reporting and Correspondence: As directed by Coordinator Indoor Sports and Programs, the incumbent will be required to draft reports and/or to prepare external correspondence.
