Statutory Oversight Legal Advisor

The Statutory Oversight team is responsible for ensuring our compliance with various statutory processes. This includes the Freedom of Information Act, Public Interest Disclosure Act, Privacy Act and Ombudsman Act. The team also conducts statutory reviews under the Work Health and Safety Act.
We are seeking a legal advisor to support the development of client-focused legal advice and support to our staff. The successful candidate will provide privacy and FOI advice and process complex requests. They will also manage risk effectively and their workload in accordance with the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in law and be admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court or Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory. They must also hold a current Practising Certificate or be able to obtain one within three months.
To be considered for this role, you must have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team. You will also need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation.
